About Jill:
Jill is one of Horse Haven’s volunteers and a work-from-home wife overseeing two small businesses.
Prior to this current chapter in her life, Jill served as a science teacher for 18 years in both the public sector and the private Christian academy sector. Jill came to Knoxville, TN in 1991 from Columbia, SC to study wildlife rehabilitation and conservation biology at the University of Tennessee and fell in love with the area. After graduating, she decided to stay and eventually returned to UT for her Master's in secondary science education. A lifelong learner, Jill went on to earn an Education Specialist degree in Instructional Leadership from Lincoln Memorial University. Jill retired from the classroom in May of 2021.
Never one to sit still, this bonus mom and grandmother began serving at Horse Haven July 2021. She loves being around the horses, being part of their healing process, and watching them grow into healthy animals ready for their forever homes. She hopes to be able to adopt in the future and share the love she and her husband have for horses with their children and their families.
When not serving at the barn, you will likely find Jill at the gym pursuing new benchmarks in powerlifting, at home working on her small businesses, in her kitchen creating meals and baking bread, or at Go Dance taking lessons with her husband.
