About Rita:
Rita Verreos is a multifaceted television personality, bilingual broadcast journalist, and dedicated philanthropist. She is first and foremost grateful to God for all His blessings. A Miss Venezuela finalist, she graduated Magna Cum Laude from UCLA, earning a double major in French and Italian Literature. Beyond her professional achievements, she is a devoted wife, mother to two children, and a passionate advocate for animal rescue, sharing her home with three beloved rescue pets.
Rita gained national recognition as a contestant on CBS’s Survivor: Fiji and has since built an impressive career as a TV host and news anchor. She has hosted programs both locally and internationally, including on HSN, MSN Latin, Mundo Fox Argentina, and Latin Connection TV. She made history as the only bilingual news anchor for Telemundo, CBS News, and Univision in Texas and New Mexico. Today, she continues breaking barriers as Jewelry Television’s only bilingual host, leading the launch of JTV Español, the first Spanish-language network of its kind.
Rita’s deep faith fuels her lifelong commitment to community service. She has actively supported numerous charitable causes, including breast cancer awareness, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, animal welfare, and special needs advocacy. In recognition of her dedication, she received the “Call to Service” Award from the President of the United States for Lifetime Achievement in Volunteerism in 2011. Additionally, she was honored as the “Survivor Fan Favorite” and “All-Around Reality Show Fan Favorite” in 2014 by European fans and won San Antonio’s “Dancing with the Lonestars”, raising funds for after-school programs.
